The Cathedral School Llandaff is one of the leading independent schools in Wales, offering an outstanding and broad education to boys and girls aged 3 - 16 years.
During the last ten years The School has grown from a small preparatory school of 280 pupils to one of the leading co-educational establishments in Wales with 635 pupils.
More than £1 million has been spent on new buildings in recent years. The investment provides outstanding facilities, which benefit every pupil, and the environment available to each child has been greatly enhanced. The School’s facilities include four science laboratories, five computer laboratories, an Art and Design Technology department in the old boarding house, a fine purpose-built Music Department including a recording studio and practice rooms, a specially designed Drama centre for workshops and performances, a Sports Hall, on-site games fields and an impressive Nursery building with appropriate areas for work and play activities. After-school activities happen daily and there is after-school care available until 6.00 pm.
For the fourth consecutive year pupils at The Cathedral School, Llandaff have achieved outstanding GCSE results. Overall the percentage of exams passed with A* or A Grade was an astonishing 67.1%, whilst 73.5% of the pupils gained 5 or more A* and A’s, a record for our School. 98% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* to C grades. Two pupils gained a complete set of A*s, having sat 10 and 12 GCSE’s respectively.
In addition to the high academic standards, the School is well-known for its astonishing wide range of extra-curricular activities. Music (10 choirs and over 20 instrumental ensembles) is exceptionally strong and the School also provides choristers (boys and girls in two choirs) for Llandaff Cathedral. In Sport there are extensive opportunities for pupils both in terms of the traditional games (where competing teams have an outstanding record of success) and with regard to such activities as Rowing, Judo and Rock-climbing. In addition, pupils can opt for such diverse activities as Drama, Dance, Archaeology Club, Yoga, Judo and Cookery.
The only way, however, to experience the true atmosphere of the School is to meet the staff and pupils and to see us in action. We warmly welcome you to visit us.
