Kirkstone House School is an ISA accredited Independent co-educational day school situated in the heart of the village of Baston. The school caters for pupils from the age of 4 years to 16 years of age, following a broad based curriculum leading to GCSE.

Kirkstone House began in 1964 as a Nursery School with just four pupils. It has over the years expanded to become what it is today, a thriving school of 250 pupils. With approximately 15 to a class, Kirkstone provides the ideal opportunity for its pupils to take advantage of the broad range of subjects, committed and experienced teachers and a delightful rural setting

Pupils are accepted into the Senior School with the expectation that they will achieve a minimum of 5 A-Cs at GCSE.

The School has excellent facilities for sport, music and drama, and it is no wonder Kirkstone pupils excel in all these areas. Music, drama and dance, both ballet and modern, are all thoroughly encouraged with class and individual lessons and pupils have gained much success and acclaim in local and regional competitions. The excellent sports Hall and the 15 acres of first class playing fields allow pupils of all ages to enjoy physical education, games and the extra - curricula sports clubs.

Foreign travel is very much part of the ‘Kirkstone experience’ with trips in recent years to Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland and France. An unusual feature of the School is its Environmental Centre – 60 acres of woodland and lakes deemed a Site of Specific Scientific Interest.

Our pupils leave us at the end of Year 11 full of wonderful memories, having spent many happy and fulfilling years with us. They are more than ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.

Kirkstone House School has so much to offer, and I would certainly welcome the opportunity to speak with you and take you on a tour of our campus. If you would like to arrange a visit then please contact the Admissions Secretary on 01778 560350.

Margaret Pepper, Headmistress
