Austin Friars St Monica’s School has a strong reputation in the north of Cumbria and in south-west Scotland for offering high quality independent day-school education. Nursery, Junior and Senior sections provide a seamless education for boys and girls aged 3 – 18 on an attractive 25-acre site in the cathedral city of Carlisle.
Austin Friars St Monica’s has always been a relatively small School with a strong reputation for providing an all-round education which meets each individual child’s needs in small classes.
We are a very friendly School in which the quality of pastoral care has a high priority. The staff are very committed to promoting the welfare and happiness of each child. As tutor and teaching groups are small, the staff are able to get to know their students well ensuring that attention is given to their individual needs.
The School is justifiably proud of its reputation for academic achievement which reflects the successful pursuit of excellence by all our pupils, whatever their talents. Success in GCSE and A level examinations and the achievement of our pupils in securing higher education places at good universities have established Austin Friars St Monica’s as the top co-educational School in Cumbria.
A broad programme provides extensive extra curricular opportunities for the pupils. The School is situated in attractive parkland and a wide range of sports are available to them. The cultural life of the School is strong with art, music and drama featuring in the diverse extra-curricular programme.
Our pupils are provided with every opportunity to develop their talents to the full, growing up in a happy and fulfilling environment where all are valued and encouraged. Traditional values are at the heart of our School community which, at the same time, is forward-thinking and vibrant as it meets the challenges of a changing world.
Our website (www.austinfriars.cumbria.sch.uk) sets out for you a flavour of life at the School and a useful way of keeping in touch with us. I hope that, if you have not previously visited, you will be tempted to come and find out more about us.
